Client 001 lived in a tent in the Fremont neighborhood. I met him Spring 2019. He was a former rock musician that became addicted to meth. By the fall I started working with him. He needed a phone to call his mother and help with a few supplies from time to time. At one point it had rained for a whole week and his tent collapsed under the weight of the water. He visited me with tears in his eyes. He had enough. His mother lived in Las Vegas and offered for him to move in if he could stay sober. He had a warrant for his arrest that he wanted to get cleared. He turned himself in and served 2 months in jail. One winter day he showed up again, sober, and ready to go home. He made a call to his mother. The next week he was on a bus to Las Vegas. This was Seattle Compassion Services' first success story, and the genesis for the program we have today. I haven't heard from Client 001 since then. I hope he is happy, sober and living a full life.
